CARTOONS

Last week I talked about how more visibility in entertainment would be a huge help to non-binary people. I told you some TV shows that have non-binary and transgender characters. I also talked about a scene in “The Deputy” where the character came out as non-binary to their boss. This scene was very important because it showed how non-binary people struggle with telling people, because of the fear of not being accepted for who they are.

This week I wanna give you list of cartoons that have non-binary and transgender characters. I’m sorry to say I haven’t watched any of these so I can’t tell you about them. All I can share is what cartoons and the characters in them. A couple cartoons has gone as far as using non-binary actors as voice overs for the characters. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power on Netflix is one of them. The character on this show is Double Trouble and is played by Jacob Tobia a non-binary advocate. I am looking forward to watching this, because it includes several other transgender characters. I have also read that the doesn’t revolve around these characters sexual orientation or gender identity. Another cartoon that also uses LGBTQ people as voices overs for characters of the LGBTQ community and also includes non-binary characters, is Danger & Eggs on Amazon Prime.

I could continue with this list. I had found at least 10 others that include non-binary characters from all the gender spectrums. By having these non-binary characters cartoons this gives parents the opportunity to open conversations with their children.

By open these conversation children might feel more comfortable expressing their gender identity and won’t have to wait until they are in their 40’s like me.
